DPC is an autonomous non-profit organisation. The initial take off grant for its operations that commenced in 1993 was provided by the African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF). It recently recieved from African Economic Research Consortium (AERC) and the United Nations Habitat Programme and local donors.

  DPC's activities are directed through the overall control of a Governing Board made up of eminent intellectuals and professionals form both the public and private sectors.

  The day-to-day administration of the centre is carried out by an array of management and programme staff under the direction of a Programme Director.

  DPC welcomes support (both material and moral) from all sources and sources and persons who share its objectives and aspirations.
